The intention

The artist wanted the lead vocal to sit inside the mix rather than on top of it, with the percussion, harmonies, and ad-libs carrying more presence. The vocal still needed to remain clear while living in a large sense of space.

The challenge

The rough needed a stronger overall balance and a clearer vocal picture. Muddiness made it harder for the lead, supporting vocals, percussion, and other elements to occupy distinct space.

The decisions

The mix reduced muddiness, kept every element audible, and created room for the lead to sit naturally inside the record while the percussion, harmonies, and ad-libs stayed present.

The result

The lead remains clear while sitting inside a large space. The supporting elements stay present, while the artist's overall vocal tone and requested balance are preserved.
